CORRIEMAR HOTEL OBAN SEPT 2010

Dennis was asked to shoot interiors at this lovely comfortable hotel on the esplanade in Oban last week so here are some of the results.Using his canon EOS1Ds Mk 3 with sigma 12mm lense in most cases he tried to convey the warm-ness and character of this well kept accommodation. The fact that it has great views must be shown to its advantage.

STEAM TRAIN DRIVER AT CONTROLS WEST HIGHLAND LINE

During my hectic few weeks photographing steam trains on the west highland line I managed to get this shot of driver Peter Walker at the controls of the Great marquess LNER K4 Class 2-6-0 shortly after arriving at Fort William with the "West Highlander" from Glasgow.Nikon D3X with 14-24 f2.8 lens.Dennis Hardley Photography at www.scotphoto.com

MUNRO CRUNCHER AND HIKER A PORTRAIT BY DENNIS

I bumped into this gentleman who had spent the night on the hilltops around Auch Glen and was re-joining the west highland way. He is Robert Neill Coupe originally from the states but now lives in Preston,Lancs.tells me he had climbed 284 Munroe's and walked the southern upland way and the penine way.His interesting demeanour prompted me to take some shots of which this is one.Canon EOS1Ds Mk3 with 28-135 lens Taken Saturday 4th Sept 2010

Steam Train on the Oban Line Sunday 5th Sept

Even though I knew beforehand that Black 5 4-6-0 45407 was travelling between Crianlarich and Oban tender first,I still thought it was worth a picture so I hauled myself up the hillside just to the east of Connel where I got this shot with Loch Etive and Ben Lora in background. This very loco was featured in Coronation street the week previous. Any picture from my blog listings can be obtained direct from me through my website at http://www.scotphoto.com/

Mr John Cameron Steam train owner and fireman

I got permission to take a couple of shots on the footplate of the LNER K4 loco "the Great Marquess" 2-6-0 61994.This is owner and fireman John Cameron heaping coal onto the hungry fire. This loco was hauling the "West Highlander" from Glasgow to Fort William on that day before arriving at Fort William at 12.45 on Sat 4th Sept.
